New Hyrule

New Hyrule is the primary setting for Spirit Tracks.

Location and History

Spirit Tracks takes place in New Hyrule, a land named after the original Hyrule. This land features an extensive railroad system created after a war with the Demon King Malladus. These Spirit Tracks, extend in four directions and connect to the central Tower of Spirits. These tracks, along with the tower and four temples, act as a seal to imprison Malladus underground.

New Hyrule is divided into five realms—Forest, Snow, Ocean, Fire, and Sand—each with its own unique environment, inhabitants, and culture.

Forest Realm

The Forest Realm is in the southwest of New Hyrule, covered in dense forests with open plains to the east. It is home to most of the kingdom’s Hylians, who live in various settlements. The capital, Castle Town, is in the north, while other notable locations include Whittleton, Aboda Village, the Trading Post, Rabbitland Rescue, and the Forest Sanctuary. Deep in the forest, the Forest Temple powers the Spirit Tracks, which connect to the Tower of Spirits.

Snow Realm

The Snow Realm lies in the northwest of the kingdom, covered in snow and home to conifer forests. The Anoukis, who migrated from the Isle of Frost, live in Anouki Village. The realm includes several stations, such as the Snow Sanctuary, Bridge Worker’s Home, Wellspring Station, Snowdrift Station, and Slippery Station. At its northern edge, beyond a vast icy plain, stands the Snow Temple, which helps power the Spirit Tracks like the Forest Temple.

Ocean Realm

The Ocean Realm, in southeast Hyrule, is a vast sea filled with islands and marine life. Hylians in Papuchia Village make their living by fishing, though they face trouble from pirates at the Pirate Hideout. Other key locations include the Ocean Sanctuary and Lost at Sea Station. Deep underwater lies the Ocean Temple, which helps power the Spirit Tracks leading to the Tower of Spirits.

Fire Realm

The Fire Realm, in the northeast of the kingdom, is filled with volcanoes, lava lakes, and rocky mountains. The Gorons live in various locations, including Goron Village, the Fire Sanctuary, Dark Ore Mine, and the Goron Target Range. At the center of the realm, atop a large mountain, stands the Fire Temple. It houses the Force Gem that powers the Spirit Tracks but is also the source of the volcanic eruptions threatening the region.

Sand Realm

The Sand Realm, located between the Ocean and Fire Realms, is a barren desert with few inhabitants besides Malgyorgs. Its only stations are the Sand Sanctuary and the Sand Temple, which guards the sacred Bow of Light. The realm is also home to the Three Trials, a test for those seeking the powerful weapon.
