The Light Dragon is one of the Immortal Dragons flying above Hyrule, alongside Dinraal, Farosh, and Naydra.

It flies clockwise over Hyrule, passing every Skyview Tower except Lookout Landing, completing its route in about two real-time hours. It briefly deviates from its path after Link collects the final Dragon Tear or retrieves the Master Sword.

The Light Dragon is invulnerable but drops materials—scales, claws, horn shards, and fangs—when struck. These restore ¼ of a heart but do not heal gloom damage. Materials can only be harvested every 10 real-time minutes.

Unlike the other dragons, it doesn’t affect the weather or attack. It creates an updraft Link can use to glide. It is the smallest of the four.

Tears of the Kingdom

The dragon is the transformed form of Princess Zelda, who became an immortal dragon by swallowing her Secret Stone to restore the Master Sword. The transformation erased her memories. However, she assists Link during the final battle, showing traces of her former self.

The Master Sword is lodged in her forehead. Link can retrieve it with at least 5 Stamina Vessels. In the final battle against the Demon Dragon, she helps Link reach his enemy and rescues him if he falls. If the sword hasn’t been collected, it can be drawn here without a stamina requirement. No materials can be gathered during this sequence. After the battle, Zelda is restored to her human form.

Trivia

  • The Light Dragon is flying between Link and the title of the game during the titlescreen when Link is falling, foreshadowing her true identity.
