"Liberation of the Triforce" is the second Scenario of the Grand Finale arc of Legend Mode in Hyrule Warriors.[1] In the original Wii U version, it is also the final scenario. It takes place in Ganon's Tower.
Overview
After felling Ganondorf's stronghold at the Gerudo Desert, the Hyrulean Forces march back to Hyrule Field after pinpointing Ganondorf's exact location. Upon their arrival, they find that the entirety of Hyrule Castle and its grounds have been transformed into a dark and foreboding place to fit Ganondorf's image. From there, he prepared a dark ritual of inner-awakening. With the fate of all of Hyrule on their hands, the Hyrulean Forces, along with their allies from across the ages, march towards Ganon's Tower for the final, decisive battle.
As the Hyrulean Forces march onto the battlefield, Ganondorf summons a pair of Argoroks to buy him more time for the awakening. As the dragons appear, Princess Zelda (or Ruto if playing as Zelda) strategizes that they be fought individually. Lana and Midna advances to fight the Argorok in the north, while Impa leaves to combat the southern one. Link assists them both, eventually defeating the Argoroks one by one. Meanwhile, Darunia (or alternately Ruto if playing as Darunia) appears at the Mountain Keep with a Bombchu to detonate a weak wall in the West Field Keep, the same wall that King Dodongo had previously broke in.[2] With Link's efforts, the Bombchu successfully reaches the wall and detonates, allowing the Hyrulean Forces to proceed through the destroyed wall. However Ganondorf's strength has already grown considerably since.
The Hyrulean Forces take over the Keep, however it is too late as Ganondorf finally reaches full power. Swearing that no one can defeat him now, he moves onto the field to combat the Hyrulean Forces. His arrival increases the Morale of his troops, and lightning is also sent falling from the sky to strike his enemies below. However by entering the field, both the Castle Keep and Abandoned Fort are opened. With the situation now critical, Zelda commands her Forces to enter the castle and take it, as reclaiming it should wane the Dark Power Ganondorf's troops now hold. As Link departs to reclaim the Castle, Darunia faces Ganondorf in battle to buy him time. After claiming the Keep, Hyrule Castle is returned to its previous shape as the Morale of Ganondorf and his troops fall, giving the Hyrulean Forces the advantage. Link and Ganondorf are then faced in battle, eventually resulting in Ganondorf's defeat. Alternately, Link can also fight and defeat Ganondorf while he is still empowered, after which the Hyrulean Forces will conquer the Castle Keep while Ganondorf is beaten.
Although defeated, Ganondorf laughs that only his one form was defeated, and that his true power is now awakening. Now at full power, Ganondorf uses the power of the Triforce and is transformed into the monstrous Ganon. As Ganon rages across the field, he begins a Lightning Attack on the Castle Keep, threatening the Castle's stronghold. Despite the grave circumstances, Zelda tells her troops to be brave and fight back to save the Castle. Link combats Ganon with the items he received throughout his battles, battling him the same way as previous bosses he had faced before. Ganon's armor is destroyed in the process, leaving him vulnerable. At this point, Zelda grants Link the Light Arrows so that he may defeat Ganon. Empowered by the strength of Link's allies, the Light Arrows overpower Ganon, allowing Link to fight his weakened form. As Ganon's health falls to its last, Link delivers the finishing blow.
Defeated, Ganon collapses as the Triforce leaves his body. The split pieces return to their previous holders Link, Zelda and Lana. Using their combined powers of the Triforce, the three seal Ganon away. With the battle and war now finally over, Fi, Darunia, Ruto, Midna and Agitha wave good-bye as they are sent back to their ages. Lana asserts that the only thing left to do is to return the Master Sword to its pedestal, but leaves that duty to Link and Zelda. At the Sacred Pedestal in the Temple of the Sacred Sword, Link and Zelda return the Master Sword to its base, thus cutting off the shadows and finally returning peace to Hyrule.
