Kuroda (黒田, Kuroda) was a competitor in the Genkai Tournament.
Appearance
Kuroda was tall, with gray hair and gray clothes and a pair of glasses on his face. He takes off his glasses right before he fights in the manga, but keeps them on in the anime.
Personality
Kuroda was a professional contract killer and self proclaimed assassin in the manga; he had no qualms about taking another human's life and was comfortable risking his own. He takes his job as an assassin very seriously and considers his life to be his work, and thus always fights to the death. In particular, he felt it was "professional" to go all out against a trained bodyguard.

Spirit Detective Saga
Kuroda entered Genkai's tournament but his motivation is never revealed. He was a master with knives. While the round itself was short, Kuroda had the upper hand for the majority of the fight. Kazemaru was barely able to avoid his attacks and was entirely on the defense. However, when backed into a corner, Kazemaru had no choice but to unleash his entire stockpile of spirit energy to finally defeat Kuroda. His death was never confirmed, but he was left for dead as Kazemaru and Kuroda both stated that they would fight to kill in that match.
Powers and Abilities
Kuroda had respectable spirit energy and spirit awareness; the latter was good enough to get him through Genkai's demon-haunted forest without difficulty. He was a trained fighter, particularly with knives, which he wielded in both hands. His skill and strength was enough to give him the upper hand in his fight with Kazemaru, forcing the ninja to resort to his trump card to win.
