Karl Wimble (born: April 1992, Bromley, London, England, United Kingdom) [1], better known online as ThinMatrix, is an English YouTuber and independent video game developer.
History
Wimble began making game development videos whilst studying at University in 2013. His first video game development series showcased a simple, 3D RPG game written in the Java programming language and using the OpenGL graphics rendering engine. This game would eventually be known as Socuwan, and the development of the game was sadly put on hold indefintely after a Kickstart campaign for the game failed to deliver the necessary development costs. [2] Running alongside the initial Socuwan videos were a tutorial series for 3D game development in Java and OpenGL.
On August 15, 2015, Wimble announced that he was moving to Berlin, Germany, in a Socuwan devlog video. [3] On August 26, 2018, he announced that he was moving to Sweden with his partner [4], and on August 28, 2019, he announced he was moving to Hamburg, Germany. [5]
Equilinox
Note: For The Dedicated Wiki Go Here.
Equilinox is a sandbox simulation game with the premise of creating a virtual, stable ecosystem in a low-poly environment. Development of the game was first announced on October 9, 2015, and was supposed to last only a few months - however, the game did not release until November 23, 2018. The entirety of the development process was documented on Wimble's channel.
On May 4, 2018, during development of the game, Wimble announced that he required surgery to remove a cancerous tumour from his tounge, and that the game would therefore be delayed. [6] Thankfully, he later announced that his surgery was successful, that he was now cancer-free, and that Equilinox development was resuming. [7]
City Building Game
After the release of Equilinox, he announced that he was now working on a city building simulation game. The game is similar to Equilinox both graphically and in using a custom game engine. The game is currently unnamed, but has appeared in some devlog videos.
