Joshua Kierkegaard G. Steel (born: January 15, 1989
), better known by his stage name Flux Pavilion, is an English EDM/Dubstep artist, producer and disc jockey. Flux has listed his sound to be inspired by The Prodigy and Rusko.He is also the co-founder of Circus Records, along with childhood friend Doctor P in the year 2009, with the backing of D&B pioneer DJ Swan-E and Earl Falconer of UB40. Artists on this label include DISKORD and FuntCase. In 2010, Flux Pavilion released Lines In Wax containing one of his most popular tracks "I Can't Stop".
History
In 2011, Flux Pavilion released Bass Cannon, which peaked at number 56 on the UK Singles Chart. Along with DoctorP, he presented a compilation album in 2004, Which featured 4 tracks. One of his most popular songs is "I Can't Stop", from the Lines In Wax EP. In 2012, "I Can't Stop" was used in Viral Kony 2012 campaign and also in a video game called: SSX.
Flux’s own output has gone from strength to strength; originally, he topped the dubstep music genre, before moving into electronic music, where he also excelled. He worked on a diverse selection of original tracks and collaborations with Childish Gambino, Dillon Francis, Steve Aoki and Turin Brakes plus remixing for the likes of Skrillex, Jamiroquai, MIA and DJ Fresh.
Flux’s music can now be found regularly cropping up in the playlists of MistaJam, Fearne Cotton, and Eddy Temple Morris as well as drawing attention from Snoop Dogg, Dr Dre, Prodigy, Fat Boy Slim, and Christina Aguilera to name a few.
Performances
Flux Pavilion has headlined three US tours, two UK tours, and several festival DJ sets, including Glastonbury, Reading, Coachella, and EDC Vegas. He has also made live performances with Example, Foreign Beggars and Chiddy Bang.
Trivia
- In December 2011, Flux was nominated for the BBC Sound of 2012.
- One of his songs, "Double Edge", is featured in the 2012 video game, Need For Speed: Most Wanted.
- In September 2014, Flux Pavilion was asked by The Walt Disney Company to remix the theme to Star Wars Rebels in order to market and draw attention to the series.
