Involvement

Yakuza 4: 2010

Kida and Akiyama

On March 1st, Kido runs soaking into the Kanemura Enterprises Office. He asks his subordinates about where Arai is, and unsuccessfully attempts to light a cigarette several times. Angered about Ueno Seiwa Clan members causing trouble at Club Elnard, Kido complains about it. He explains the relation between the Tojo Clan and the Ueno Seiwa Clan to his subordinate, yelling after his explanations are not understood. Shun Akiyama enters the office, informing Kido his yelling could be heard across the street, and the two converse. After Akiyama leaves, Kido explains Akiyama's occupation to his subordinates. After Hiroshi Kanemura enters the room and expresses worry about the Club Elnard situation, Kido eases his worries, stating he'll call Arai.

Kida look Arai arriving before him

Calling Arai, Kido hears it'll be some time before he can help, and heads to Club Elnard to handle the situation himself. Arriving at Club Elnard, he sees Akiyama handling Masaru Ihara, and allows them to fight. After Arai arrives and unsuccessfully deals with Ihara, he orders Kido to chase him and Yutaka Mishima down. Now March 2nd, Kido chases after the pair but loses track of them. Calling Arai, he receives no response and heads to the Kanemura Enterprises Office. Entering the office, Kido is horrified to find Kanemura's corpse, and calls the police. He is then interrogated at the police station. Later that day, he calls Akiyama, asking to meet him on a rooftop at Theater Square. At the rooftop, he recounts the recent events. The two are approached by Shibata Family men, under orders of Kazuo Shibata - who assumes Kido was involved with Kanemura's death. Kido flees to Sky Finance after being told to.

Kida and Akiyama approaches by Shibata men

Exhausted, Kido lays on the floor of Sky Finance. Taken to the police station alongside Akiyama, Kido is interrogated by Sugiuchi, who probes him about his relation to Arai and Akiyama. After the interrogation, Kido heads to the bathroom. He is met by Akiyama, who was also interrogated, and the two discuss their experience.

Two days later, on March 4th, Akiyama gives ¥15,000,000 to Kido at Sky Finance to help track down Arai. Having been long curious about Akiyama and Arai's relation, Kido questions Akiyama about it, and Akiyama details their past. Determined, Kido vows to find Arai and exits the building. Later that day, Kido attempts to call Akiyama. Receiving no answer, he instead enters Sky Finance only to find nobody there. To pass the time, Kido grabs a book from the bookshelf, but accidentally discovers a button hidden behind it. Pressing the button, Kido unveils Sky Finance's secret vault. Seeing Hana outside through the window, Kido scurries to close the vault and put everything back in place. As he places the last book in, he is greeted by Hana.

Kida holds Hana

A group of Hatsushiba Clan yakuza enter Sky Finance and attack Hana and Kido. To cover his tracks further, Kido utilizes the situation and fights messily in the office, scattering several books across the floor, and allowing himself to be kidnapped. Dragged to the Hatsushiba Office, he is later rescued by Akiyama.

Kida defeats Shibata men himself all alone

Two days later, on March 6th, Kido is jumped by seven Shibata Family men searching for Arai, and he easily defeats all of them. He talks down on the last conscious Shibata Family man, calling the entire family "dumbasses." Overheard by another man, Kido is questioned about his relation to the Shibata Family. The man asks for help in finding his boss named Sasai, but Kido runs off to avoid conflict. Caught, Kido hears out the man's story about the time he carried out a hit on the Ueno Seiwa Clan. Recognizing him as Taiga Saejima, Kido is astonished a legend would want his help, and he leads him to the former Hatsushiba Clan Office, allowing Saejima to use it as a hideout. He informs Saejima about a legendary informant who may be able to assist him.

The next day, on March 7th, Saejima tells Kido about his plan to head to the Millennium Tower that night. As Kamurocho is teeming with police officers, Kido scopes out the safest route there while Saejima is resting. As Saejima wakes up, Kido informs him of the route he made. Curious, Kido asks Saejima if he regrets his fateful past, and he figures Kido is planning something big. Saejima gives Kido a motivational speech, how a yakuza only gets one shot, how honor and duty is everything. Deeply respectful to him, Kido bows as he exits the room.

Three days later, on March 10th, Kido is out searching for Arai when he finds Mishima. As Mishima is not willing to speak, Kido calls Akiyama's phone for help, who states he has it covered and will call back later. At some point, Kido establishes contact with Daigo Dojima, informing him of Sky Finance's ¥100,000,000,000. Daigo reveals Arai's collusion with Seishiro Munakata, which gives Kido an idea that would secure Sky Finance's money for Daigo's sake and eliminate Isao Katsuragi. Afterwards, he establishes contact with Arai and falsely details a plan of stealing Sky Finance's money, pretending to turn it to Katsuragi, and handing it over to Munakata. Through Arai, he becomes acquainted with Katsuragi.

On March 13th, Kido secures Sky Finance's money through fake district attorney men sent by Katsuragi. At Purgatory, he informs Katsuragi of it, and the two capture Saejima and Yasuko, bringing them to Kamurocho Hills to usher a deal with Kazuma Kiryu. Atop Kamurocho Hills, he greets Kiryu, returning Yasuko safely in exchange for a certain file. He is ordered by Katsuragi to shoot Kiryu and Yasuko, but turns around and shoots Katsuragi four times in the chest. Kido hands the file to Arai, only to be shot in the stomach by him. Afterwards, he makes a recovery, wearing a binding around his stomach.

Two days later, on March 15th, Kido follows Daigo to the top of the Millennium Tower, where Sky Finance's money has been placed after being recovered. Encountering Arai, he listens as Arai reveals he pieced together Kido and Daigo's collusion, and also reveals he is an undercover police officer, much to Kido's dismay. Munakata enters the scene, who mentions to Kido that finding Sky Finance's money "must have felt like a dream come true."

Saejima vs Kido-0

A helicopter appears, with four men stepping out of it, one of them being Saejima who approaches Kido. As a fight is looming, Kido pridefully basks in his past activities, stating "I knew my big chance had finally come." Seeing it as an honor to face Saejima, Kido gives him his fight. Defeated, Kido sits on the ground, watching Arai confront Munakata. While Arai is arrested, Kido's fate is unknown.

Fighting Style

Kido possesses great physical strength, illustrated by him besting seven Shibata Family members single-handed. A capable mixed martial artist, he uses plethora of strong punches, kicks, and professional wrestling moves. He takes an orthodox stance not unlike Saejima's, but with his fists closed and his body facing more to the right. His moveset includes the following:

  • a combo comprised of a right cross and a low left roundhouse kick, followed by:
    • a right calf-kick, or
    • a right axe kick, which can stun Saejima;
  • a second combo comprised of a left jab, a low right push kick, a jumping left front kick-right rising kick, and a left haymaker;
  • a jumping right knee strike,
  • a flying left spinning back kick as a running attack,
  • a jumping bulldog as a grab attack,
  • a rolling body slam as a grab reversal (unused),
  • Kiryu's Knockdown Reversal, which can stun Saejima;
  • a right uppercut after quickstepping forward, which can stun Saejima;
  • a diving tackle command grab (Heat Mode only),
  • a right axe kick as a downed attack, and
  • a taunt where he leans forward and beckons Saejima three times with both hands.

He will sometimes perform the Essence of Mounting Heat Action if he tackles Saejima with his command grab.

In Heat Mode, Kido gains the ability to perform a quick charge-up animation, allowing to use additional attacks:

  • a combo consisting of a left jab, a right cross, a left uppercut, a right knee strike, a right jab, a left cross, a lunging left cross, a left roundhouse kick, a right cross, and a high right roundhouse kick.

After executing the full combo, Kido will lean over to catch his breath, reverting to his calm state.

Kido will assume a recovery stance when his health has been depleted to 1%, at the cost of returning to his calm state if in Heat Mode. He will perform this twice during the fight, regaining a considerably smaller amount the second time.

His aura in Heat Mode is bright orange with dark red accents, providing contrast to Saejima's blue aura.
