Profile

Appearance

Miss Tatsu is a young woman with a round face, above-average height and build, and long black hair.

Attire

Miss Tatsu wears a blue silk jacket with blue and yellow sleeves and the torso adorned with a pair of dragons over a plain black shirt. She also wears dogtags around her neck, a pair of skinny jeans, and black boots that almost reach her knees.

Personality

Ah, Kiryu! Ready to go beast mode?

— Miss Tatsu

Miss Tatsu appears as a volatile, but somewhat friendly and straightforward individual to those who do not have any debts to pay. To those who do have debts, she is considered extremely ruthless and abrasive, so much so that people have been rumored to flee the country after hearing she was coming to collect.

Involvement

Yakuza 0: 1988

While on a collections job, Miss Tatsu is observed by Kiryu, who was told to do so by Bacchus, giving Kiryu a revelation to the Beast style, a fighting style that emphasizes power and brute force and deals a considerable damage. After she takes down her uncooperative target, a group of thugs arrive, and Kiryu puts the moves he learned from her to use.

Her subsequent encounters happen at the docks, where she arranges lessons for Kiryu as well as debt collections.

After Ichiban Kasuga is released from jail in 2019, he meets Miss Tatsu who is in the middle of defending herself from a bunch of thugs, mistaking her for being a "young woman" due to her incredible strength. She tells him that he is mistaken, and that she is "probably older than you", leaving Kasuga confused and wondering how old she really is. A few minutes later the same thugs return with a much larger man, who turns out to be someone Miss Tatsu is collecting debt from. Kasuga and Miss Tatsu beat up the defaulter, who only pays half of what he owes. She threatens the defaulter that she will return later for the other half, and walks off with Kasuga.

Kasuga compliments Miss Tatsu on her ruthlessness and asks what she does for a living, to which she responds that she has been a debt collector for decades, leaving him even more bewildered. She asks Kasuga if he wants to assist her for a bit, since he has a "pretty good punch", but he politely refuses, saying he has other work to do. They part ways.

Some time later, Kasuga meets Miss Tatsu again, this time in the middle of a debt collection. He tags along with her on her request, saying he wants to see her fight again. They arrive at Miss Tatsu's target, a supposedly homeless man, who she immediately begins demanding debt from. Kasuga tries to stop her, saying that harassing a homeless person is pushing the limit, but she rips off his clothes to reveal a suit beneath, and explains that the man is actually a successful businessman, who resorted to disguising himself as a homeless person to beg for money and reduce his own spending. The miser retorts that he will never pay his debt, and the same group of thugs from before returns, only for all of them to be soundly thrashed by Miss Tatsu, who forces the miser to strip and hand over all the money on his person. She threatens him that he had "better have the rest of the money next time", and walks off.

Kasuga says that Miss Tatsu looked cool doing her job, prompting her to ask why he thinks so. He replies that he just feels that she is cool, and as a former debt collector himself, he hated the job. She agrees with him, saying that debt collecting is a job with a bad reputation, but she does it because there are always people who abuse the moneylending system. Kasuga says that her motivation is what makes her cool, pleasing her greatly. She heads off, since her work is done.

Kasuga and Miss Tatsu meet again, this time with Miss Tatsu having a tense look on her face. Kasuga asks her why she looks tense, to which she replies that she is about to collect from a man named Takeshi, who carries multiple debts. Takeshi signed his own younger brother Yoshikazu as the guarantor, but Yoshikazu, being unable to pay, filed for bankruptcy while Takeshi fled abroad. Kasuga asks why she is even bothering, since Takeshi is abroad, but she responds that he is back in Kamurocho, visiting his favorite hostess. Kasuga offers to tag along.

The two of them go to the club Takeshi is at, where they see him frittering away his money on drinks. Miss Tatsu asks him to buy her a drink, saying that he seems well off, and the debtor responds that he "didn't request her", but since Miss Tatsu is "pretty", he'll buy her a drink anyway. He makes her sit next to him and asks her what she wants of him, to which she crudely responds that she is there to collect his debt. Takeshi feigns ignorance, making Miss Tatsu pull out her loan book as proof, and when Takeshi still refuses, she breaks a table in anger, prompting Takeshi to call his thugs into the club.

Miss Tatsu thrashes them all and drags a bloodied Takeshi outside, screaming all the while that he is an irresponsible fool who did nothing but cause trouble for his family. Takeshi feebly tells her to go collect from his brother, to which Miss Tatsu says that he should take responsibility and go work on a tuna boat until his loan is paid off. At that very moment, Yoshikazu arrives, and hands over some money from their father to cover the interest. Miss Tatsu asks him why he is paying his brother's debt, and Yoshikazu responds that Takeshi is really a decent man, and that he will pay off his debt. A humbled Takeshi promises to pay his debt, and walks off with Yoshikazu.

Kasuga says that Yoshikazu looked relieved, a first for someone whose debt was collected by Miss Tatsu. She complains that people are always thankful to moneylenders, but nobody is ever thankful to debt collectors, and Kasuga responds, "maybe debt collectors aren’t as bad as people think."

Fighting Style

Though Miss Tatsu is not a boss, she is seen fighting in a cutscene using a variation of Beast style: she has Saejima's stance, and does Kiryu's Auto Weapon Grab. In the same scene, she uses Essence of the Beast: Torment, breaking a man's shoulders and throwing him over herself with ease.
