Kei Ibuchi (飯渕 圭, Ībuchi Kei) is the main antagonist of the Majima Saga of Yakuza Kiwami 2. He is the patriarch of the Ibuchi Family.
Profile
Appearance
Ibuchi is tall and has medium-length black hair parted to the side.
Attire
Ibuchi wears a pinstriped navy business suit over navy tie and white shirt. He also wears a pair of frameless glasses.
Personality
While being considerably intelligent, Ibuchi openly disdains senior management position within the Tojo Clan due to it being associated with old values like moral codes and humanity. With a unique background of consultation, he possessed an excellent capacity to make rational judgments and an overwhelming amount of knowledge. Ibuchi is so obsessed with trying to "update" the yakuza, he plans for the Tojo Clan to merge with the Omi Alliance by inciting a war between the two.
Background
Ibuchi worked in a small consulting firm when Ryo Takashima invited him to join the yakuza, and then secretly worked in league with him. He eventually became the patriarch of the Ibuchi Family, a new family within the Tojo Clan that was formed during Yukio Terada's chairmanship.
Involvement
Yakuza Kiwami 2: 2006
Ibuchi proposes to Terada that only the patriarch with the most profit should be promoted to the position of clan captain, suggesting Akinobu Uematsu to be the next captain. However, he quickly turns shocked as Goro Majima brings in a cart full of money, easily outweighing Uematsu and Ibuchi. After Terada's meeting, Ibuchi contacts Ryota Kawamura and has him execute everyone in the Uematsu Family HQ, including Uematsu himself, as Kawamura promised to obey his orders in exchange for having his debts repaid. Ibuchi also ordered the massacre so that Majima could be punished.
When Majima returns to the Tojo HQ to report what he found to Terada, Ibuchi is quick to blame it all on Majima, purely due to his current rivalry with him.
After Majima finds and fights Kawamura in Cabaret Grand, Ibuchi executes Kawamura with a headshot, telling him his "debts are paid in full now". Soon after, Ibuchi explains his plans about updating and overthrowing the Tojo and handing everything over to the Omi, and that the only way to do it is by war between both organizations. After claiming Majima's ideals as outdated, he proceeds on a scuffle against him, arming himself with his pistol. Despite using a gun against a knife, Ibuchi is defeated. He aims his gun at Majima one more time before pointing it to himself, telling Majima how one cannot change fate by force. He shoots himself, assured that his prophecy of a war between the Tojo and the Omi will be inevitable, which would later become realized thanks to Ryuji, Terada and the Jingweon Mafia.
After Ibuchi's death, both the Ibuchi and the Uematsu families are disbanded. As an apology for Kawamura killing an Omi executive, Majima disbands his family. Ryuji himself asks his fellow Omi lieutenants whether any of them were behind Ibuchi's actions, with the only viable suspect being Ryo Takashima.
Fighting style
Ibuchi's moveset is identical to Wataru Kurahashi. Occasionally, he will try to grab Majima and then shoot him in the abdomen, which can easily knock Majima down. This grab has super armor, but Majima can still use his Demonfire Counter against it.
