Kamoji (カモジ) is a character in Yakuza 0. He is a homeless man who earns money as a punch-out artist in the Shichifuku Parking Lot. He trains Kazuma Kiryu in the Rush style.
Profile
Appearance
Kamoji is a middle aged Japanese man with a bowl haircut, moustache, and chin stubble. He is shorter than Kiryu.
Attire
He sports a gray dress shirt with the top button unbuttoned, black knee length overcoat, black belt, black pants, and black dress shoes.
Personality
Kamoji speaks informally with a southern accent. He is forgiving and encouraging when Kiryu fails during his training and takes great pride in his work, hoping to make Kiryu his apprentice, though Kiryu rejects the offer. Kiryu himself calls Kamoji a great teacher. In addition, Kamoji is extremely humble. After his training is complete, he refuses to accept Kiryu's money from the final punch-out artist training with Kiryu and gives Kiryu the full amount. When Kiryu asks why he won't accept when he could use it to get his own place, Kamoji says he will buy an apartment with the money from his previous gigs and a shabby apartment is enough to satisfy him.
Involvement
Yakuza 0: 1988
After a night of drinking with Bacchus, Kamoji is taken by him to meet Kiryu after running into Toko Credit agents who want them to pay their debts. An agreement is made to have the agents fight for the money, and Kamoji fights first with Bacchus telling Kiryu to watch his moves. Kamoji inspires Kiryu to learn the Rush style, a fighting style that focused on speed and quick chains of combos, influenced by boxing.
His subsequent encounters happen at the Shichifuku Parking Lot, where Kiryu can hone his skill in Rush style. Kamoji teaches Kiryu Swallow Spirit, Damage Weaving, Floating Re-Guard 1, Counter Quickstep, and Essence of Relentless Barrage.
