Ikumi[note 2][2] (いくみ)[note 3] is a minor character in Yakuza: Like a Dragon.
Background
Ikumi was born in the 1960s in Kamurocho to unnamed parents. She likely had an abusive childhood similar to Jo Sawashiro's, according to Sawashiro's account. She began cohabiting in a small apartment with him in her early teens, neither of them having a long-term relationship in mind.
In 1976, Ikumi told Sawashiro she is pregnant. However, it was too late to terminate the pregnancy, and lacking the means to provide for a child, the two panicked. They chose to neglect the pregnancy on purpose, refusing to go to doctors in the hopes it will lead to a miscarriage. Even so, on New Year's Eve, Ikumi gave birth to their son alone in the bathroom of a department store.
Desperate and with no adult guidance, they resorted to the tactic they had lived their lives by up to that point: ignoring their problems and hiding them from view. They decided to abandon the baby at Shinjuku Station. Once there, Ikumi had difficulty coming to terms with the decision, as Sawashiro was the one to lock the baby inside coin locker number 0099.
Later in the night, this weighed heavily on Ikumi, who believed she and Sawashiro are "going to hell" for their actions. They argued, with Ikumi insisting on going back for the child and Sawashiro wanting to move on. Ikumi returned to the station, followed by Sawashiro despite his reluctance. However, once they arrived, they were shocked to witness a yakuza punch the locker open to retrieve the baby. Although initially comforted by the idea that someone else would raise the child, they were troubled by the man's unexplained determination to get into the locker.
They loitered at the lockers, where Ikumi was the first to notice two men retrieve a second baby from another locker several minutes later. From the men's conversation, Ikumi and Sawashiro pieced together that a woman named Akane Kishida had also hidden her and the yakuza's newborn in the adjacent locker number 0101. They receive their answer: the yakuza had mistaken their baby for his own.
Ikumi and Sawashiro ended their relationship some time within the next five years. It is implied Ikumi left Kamurocho afterward.

- ↑ While Ikumi is not named in-game, she is referred to as such within Yakuza: Like a Dragon's files.
- ↑ Official kana is not provided for Ikumi's name.
