Uraya (Japanese: インヴィディア, Invidia) is a Titan in Xenoblade Chronicles 2.

Overview

In Xenoblade Chronicles 2, Uraya is a whale-like Titan. It is ruled by the Kingdom of Uraya, whose territory is contained within the vast cave spreading through the Titan's body. The caves are lit during the day by a faint sunlight filtering through the translucent membranes on its back, and at night by bioluminescent plants.

Areas

Xenoblade Chronicles 3

The Urayan Titan's remains, now known as the Urayan Mountains, appear in the world of Aionios as part of the Pentelas Region in Xenoblade Chronicles 3 and Future Redeemed, with a gaping wound in its body caused by an Annihilation Event at some point after Future Redeemed.[1] The inside of the Titan's remains make up the Urayan Tunnels, which is a mining site, and parts of the Titan make up the Urayan Trail and Rae-Bel Tableland.

More of the mountain ridge is destroyed by Keves Castle's Annihilator when the Queen of Keves fires it at the Urayan Mountains as a demonstration of the weapon's power.

In Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

In Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Uraya is one of the Titans that can appear in the background of the "Cloud Sea of Alrest" DLC stage.

In Tetris 99

In Tetris 99, the Urayan Mountains appear with Swordmarch in the background during matches as part of the Xenoblade Chronicles 3 theme.

In Karaoke JOYSOUND for Nintendo Switch

In Karaoke JOYSOUND for Nintendo Switch, Uraya appears in footage from Xenoblade Chronicles 2 that plays randomly in the background during a song.

Etymology

Both the Japanese and English names allude to one of the seven deadly sins, envy. While the former uses the Latin word, the latter is taken from the Japanese word 羨望, Senbō, giving the verb and adjective in hiragana うらやむ, Urayamu, and うらやましい, Urayamashī. This is also expressed by the Duchy of Envia, one of the nine noble houses of Uraya mentioned in Adenine's Heart-to-heart, "Walking Encyclopedia".

Trivia

  • Uraya appears on the box arts of both Xenoblade Chronicles 2 and Xenoblade Chronicles 3. Uraya was also the first Titan to be shown in its entirety before the release of Xenoblade Chronicles 2, appearing at the end of the initial announcement trailer.
