Nemesis

Telethia Plume

Nemeses were enemies in Xenoblade Chronicles X that had very high stats and potentially unique skills, comparable to Raid Bosses in other games. Nemeses had higher stats than Tyrants. Only two Nemeses are known, both Ultrafauna. With the shutdown of Wii U online services, the ability to fight nemeses was discontinued.

They were fought during Squad Missions with a strict time limit. These battles required thorough personal and Squad team preparations for both characters and Skells. They had relatively low HP but could have had millions of lives, represented by RP. At the end of the mission, the Nemesis's remaining RP was reported to a server and was carried over to the next player who fought it. This went on until it fled, or all RP had been drained and rewards were handed out. The rewards could be used in item crafting. Nemeses had unique names and there was only one of each of these monsters in the world. Nemeses are similar to Superbosses in the Xenoblade Chronicles series.

In Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition, the system has been reworked. Upon a Nemesis spawning, all players are given 10 attempts against the respective boss. Nemeses will no longer flee after a few days. If players fail to reduce the boss's RP to zero in a week's time, all players' attempt count resets to 10. Players' Appraisal Score from prior attempts are not affected by the reset.
