Awakening (XC1)

Spoiler alert

The future doesn't belong to you!

For those who have not completed games in the Xenoblade Chronicles series, this page contains spoilers regarding the plot. Discretion is advised.

Awakening is an Aura used by some enemies in Xenoblade Chronicles and Future Connected that, while in effect, increases that enemy's level. Most enemies tend to activate this aura when their HP is at least under 50% of its max and the aura also has different durations depending on the enemy using it, although it rarely lasts for very long. Like all auras, the enemy using it will appear to have mist surrounding it while it is active, with Awakening having blue mist.

Effects

Awakening increases the level of its user by a random amount, with this amount being limited by the user's level. The changes in Levels are as follows:

  • Enemies at Level 19 or under will gain between 1 and 2 levels;
  • Enemies from levels 20 through 49 will gain 2 or 3 levels;
  • Enemies at level 50 or higher will gain anywhere from 2, 3 or 4 levels.

Since the enemy's level is changing, their stats can also increase, and more importantly, their window may change colour, potentially changing the effects of the Danger Level of the enemy mid-battle.

Dispelling

Like all auras, Awakening can be removed by inflicting Daze on the enemy through Arts like Shaker Edge (Shulk), Shield Bash (Reyn), Head Shaker (Sharla), Hidden Thorn (Fiora). Forced Daze abilities like Thunder (Dunban) will also suffice.

Monado Purge (Shulk) and Mind Blast (Melia) also have the ability to remove Auras, and thus can also dispel Awakening.
