Cannibalism is the act or practice of humans eating other humans. It has been attributed to many different tribes and ethnicities in the past, but the degree to which it has actually occurred and been socially sanctioned is an extremely controversial topic in anthropology, owing to the extreme taboo against its practice in most cultures. Individual cases in other countries have been seen with mentally unstable persons, criminals, and, in unconfirmed rumors, by religious zealots.
The townspeople of Dudley, Arkansas were known to practice cannibalism and resulted in an outbreak of Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease.
