Time Rifts are the major open-world feature of patch 10.1.5. Taking place in the Tyrhold Reservoir of central Thaldraszus at the top of each hour, players are tasked with killing enemies and completing minigames on behalf of the bronze dragonflight.
When the scenario begins, speak with Soridormi at [51.1, 57.1] to sign up and instantly load into the Time Rifts phase. Then follow the objective tracker to complete the assigned tasks.
As players defeat the requested enemies or finish tasks, they will gain standing with Soridormi's friendship faction, earn [Paracausal Flakes], and Temporal Essence points. If the scenario reaches various point thresholds, players will be awarded with a
[Box of Tampered Reality] (2,500 points, +10 rep), a
[Box of Volatile Reality] (5,000 points, +25 rep), and a
[Box of Collapsed Reality] (7,500 points, +30 rep).
In-game description
Before the event starts, Soridormi describes Time Rifts as follows:
I'm glad you're here.
There's been far too much chaos in the timeways lately. Reckless time travel has consequences! Now a time rift is imminent. I can almost taste it.
I won't stand for this. We need to set things right! That's where you come in.
What is a Time Rift?
Allow me to explain.
There are trillions of trillions of trillions of timeways out there: alternate realities that exist in parallel to ours.
Some of these realities may be wildly different than ours. Others may bear similarities to the world you and I know... different in only in a few small details.
That's a lot of timeways to keep track of.
It certainly is! Fortunately for me and my flight, most timeways do not threaten ours. They extend across dimensions that are distant from and askew to our own timeline, with no threat of ever crossing over.
A few timeways, however, stretch perilously close to our own. And when we experience turbulence in our timeline--as we have in recent days--the veil between our reality and adjacent timeways can wear thin... or tear open.
<Soridormi shudders.>
These horrid scars in the titans' design are called "Time Rifts."
How do we repair a time rift?
Ah! Repairing a Time Rift itself is trivial. We simply need to find the temporal diffraction point and refocus it back into parallel configuration! A single chronograde, oriented into the correct position, adjusted for facing, concavity, eccentricity, timeway, time, and, of course, extrachronotemporaneity. That should do the job. Really, the youngest whelp could do it.
The tricky part is getting there. We bronze dragons keep Azeroth's timeway tidy and unbent, but we cannot maintain all other timeways. The best we can do is straighten them when they coil too closely into ours.
So we need to travel to another timeway?
Precisely. I will be on the lookout for a suitable portal to carry us through to the other side. In the meantime, I'll be relying on you to make sure that nothing from the foreign timeline threatens our own.
I understand now. Thank you.
When the event is in progress, she instead says:
This is no time for idle chat. We need to fix the timeways.
(Begin Time Rift) <Name>, reporting in for duty!
What's going on?
Something punched a hole between our reality and another. Normally, the timeways are neatly contained in their own perfect little dimensions. They're not supposed to get criss-crossed like this.
<Soridormi scrunches up her face in disgust.>
It is the duty of the bronze dragonflight to correct this. That's why we're here today. Well... that, and protecting our allies from any extradimensional invaders.
<Soridormi looks out across the reservoir.>
Hmm. They're here.
They're here? Who's here?
There seem to be invaders from TWO different timeways here.
- A.Z.E.R.O.T.H.
- The machines you see before you are from A.Z.E.R.O.T.H., a timeway where the Curse of Flesh never ended.
- Azewrath
- The incursion you see before you originated in Azewrath, a timeway where the Scourge conquered Azeroth.
- Fel creatures are infesting our timeline from Azewrath, a timeway where blasphemous demons have conquered all of creation.
- Azmerloth
- Murlocs are invading from Azmerloth, a timeway where malefic and mischievous amphibians have conquered the world.
- The other creatures are from Azmerloth, a timeway where mischievous and malefic murlocs have conquered the world.
- Azmourne
- The Scourge incursion is here from Azmourne, a timeway where the undead have utterly triumphed over the living.
- Azq'roth
- Minions of the Black Empire have entered our timeline from Azq'roth, a timeway where the Old Gods defeated the Titans and conquered all of creation.
- Ulderoth
- Bestial creatures have invaded our world from Ulderoth, a timeway where Titan experiments have irrevocably altered the landscape of their world.
- The bestial creatures you see before you are from Ulderoth, where the Titans defeated the Old Gods early in the world's history. Wildlands, wildlife, and wild gods run rampant throughout that primal timeway.
- Warlands
- We are being invaded by warriors from a timeway where the war between Horde and Alliance never ended, an alternate future where they eternally fight over a ruined post-apocalyptic wasteland.
- Desperate post-apocalyptic survivors are here from the Warlands, an alternate future where the war between the Horde and Alliance never ended. They are now locked in ceaseless conflict over a ruined wasteland.
You mentioned two different timelines. What's the second one?
Another option from the set above.
I understand now. Thank you.
Scenario

The event plays out in two stages in and around the Tyrhold Reservoir. Players must first speak with Soridormi to opt into the event and load into the Time Rifts phase, where two timeways are invading.
In the first stage, lasting for nine minutes, players will be tasked with individual or group activities. These tasks include killing as many enemies as possible under a time limit, grouping up to defeat a named elite target, flying through or running over enemies, dragging large objects to portals, or minigames like identifying enemies from the wrong timeline.
In this stage, keep an eye out for quest-starting objects or NPCs after completing tasks! These quests are criteria of an account-wide achievement and also grant reputation with Soridormi.
Kills of requested (non-elite) enemies are worth one point of reputation, two [Paracausal Flakes] and three Temporal Essence. Completed tasks are worth 20, 30, and 50 respectively.
Once the nine-minute timer runs out, a large portal spawns in the center of the reservoir and all players should enter it. After the loading screen, players will be in one of the invading timeways' boss encounters. Defeat the boss, look for another quest-starting NPC or object, then take the portal to exit the timeway and return to Soridormi.

Invasions
Each Time Rift scenario, two timeways will invade from a set of seven. One of those timeways will be the boss encounter.
A.Z.E.R.O.T.H.

In this timeway, King Mechagon has succeeded in his effort to return anyone of flesh into robotic parts. The Overlord Mechagon encounter takes place in a unique mechanical arena.
- Soridormi says: Machines rule this timeway. Its denizens know only logic, knowledge, and efficiency.
- Soridormi says: Flesh and blood have no place here.
- Soridormi says: We must isolate this timeway from our world. We have little time to do so!
Azewrath

In this timeway, the Burning Legion won the War of the Ancients 10,000 years ago, which drastically changed the outcome of the war and led to the fel corruption of many races. In the first stage of the scenario, players come across Ellemayne, an uncorrupted night elf, who hands over a [Map to Suramar], looking for help with the resistance under the command of Tyrande Whisperwind.
The Illidan Stormrage boss encounter takes place on a Legion ship, reusing the Kil'jaeden map in Tomb of Sargeras.
- Soridormi says: In this timeway, the Legion won the War of the Ancients.
- Soridormi says: Demons corrupt this realm to its core. Sargeras saw his crusade of annihilation through to the end.
- Soridormi says: We cannot risk further exposure. Closing this rift is vital!
After the encounter, Illidan drops [An Antlered Skull], that of Malfurion Stormrage.
Azmerloth

Azmerloth is one of apparently many timeways that have been overrun by murlocs. There, the murlocs have formed many parallel organizations including the Cenrrn Cirrgl, Krrn Trr, and MR-7. Additionally, several named murlocs have crossed over, such as Grrrmrrsh Hrrnglscrrrm, and a minion of Deathwingurlugull.
The Gill'dan boss encounter takes place at the base of Ergbrgls Flrgmrbbl in the Mrrglblight.
- Soridormi says: Azmerloth. In this timeway, murlocs have overrun reality.
- Soridormi says: Among the countless timeways known to the bronze dragonflight, you would be surprised how often this is the case.
- Soridormi says: This is a silly place, but it is also incredibly deadly. Use caution.
After the encounter, Alulgultasza de Urgl-Blalul appears and offers players the [Azmerlothian Hourglass], capable of briefly bringing her to the main timeline, where she has a conversation with Alexstrasza.
Azmourne

The Lich King encounter takes place atop the Frozen Throne, much like the original encounter in the primary timeline.
- Soridormi says: We've arrived in a time when the Lich King and his armies succeeded in scourging the world.
- Soridormi says: Life stands no chance in this Azeroth. Only death--and undeath--trouble this timeway.
- Soridormi says: Move quickly! Our own Azeroth is counting on us.
After the encounter, players notice a [Gilded Vase] in a place of prominence atop Icecrown.
Azq'roth

The Fury of N'zoth encounter takes place in a special Black Empire-themed arena.
- Soridormi says: In this timeway, the Black Empire never fell.
- Soridormi says: This Azeroth is a dead planet, fed upon by the Old Gods for millennia with no Titans, dragons, or champions to stop them.
- Soridormi says: We will not be here for long.
After the encounter, a [Chipped Stone Tablet] stands out, detailing the efforts of one sacrifice attempting to save another.
Ulderoth

The special mechanic for this timeway is Ulderoth Mutagen Orbs, which function like Anima Cells from Torghast. Pick the extra fluffy fur option then speak with Soridormi for an achievement!
The Freya encounter reuses the Elarian Sanctuary map from Antorus, the Burning Throne.
- Soridormi says: Astounding! This timeway is a Titan utopia. There is no shadow here, no corruption, just Order... and Life.
- Soridormi says: In this ancient place, the Pantheon saw their experiments through. Think of what we could learn from them...
- Soridormi says: But not today! Stay focused on the task at hand!
After the encounter, a [Watcher's Log] of hologram generator of a yaungol appears, detailing the titanic watchers' observations and experiments on them.

The Warlands

The special mechanic of this invasion are the weapon racks and dropped weapons of the invading factions. Use all six to earn an achievement.
The Varian Wrynn encounter takes place on gunships of the Great Glorious Alliance and the Blood Horde.
- Soridormi says: We now stand in the midst of a never-ending battle between Horde and Alliance.
- Soridormi says: This timeway never saw an occasion for the two to come together, so they ripped the planet apart with their ceaseless war.
- Soridormi says: We must keep fighting, too. It is time to untangle the timeways.
After the encounter, an [Oil-Soaked Log Book] shows up inside the cabin of the Alliance gunship, presenting the Great Glorious Alliance's side of the endless conflict.
