PvE seasons or Mythic+ seasons are periods in which Mythic+ dungeons scale to the item level available in the current-tier raid. Each season usually coincides with the start of the raid and a simultaneous PvP season.
PvE seasons usually begin with the following sequence:
- Mythic+ unlocks at the same time as the Normal and Heroic modes of a raid, but the end-of-dungeon rewards are capped at a reduced item level (preventing social pressures to grind many M+ dungeons) -- meanwhile, Mythic+ weekly Great Vault rewards are uncapped.
- The cap on end-of-dungeon rewards lifts in the following week, coinciding with the launch of Mythic raiding.
- LFR wings unlock each week thereafter.
After a major content patch or expansion pre-patch, some fansites declare a post-season for the purpose of tracking player accomplishments (leaderboards).[1] This is the brief time after new content is available, but before the new scaling, and corresponding new raid, unlocks.
Achievements
During each PvE season, there is a set of Feats of Strength achievements relating to attaining [Keystone Master] during that season. Beginning with Battle for Azeroth: Season Four, these achievements also award season-exclusive mounts.
