Prologue was originally an exclusive comic, which was available for free during BlizzCon 2007 at the DC booth on August 3, 2007 and premiered later in November at MTV's Multiplayer blog.^[1] It marked the start of the World of Warcraft comic storyline which continued with Stranger in a Strange Land.

When Rehgar Earthfury's greatest gladiator, Bloodeye Redfist, is killed, he prepares to track down a new competitor for "The Crimson Ring", an underground network revolving around gladiatorial death matches. Meanwhile, the surviving members of Bloodeye's team, Valeera Sanguinar and Broll Bearmantle, discuss Rehgar's background as a warrior and gladiator.
