Leran was a draenei and the sister of Vindicator Maraad on Draenor. After being tricked by Gul'dan, the Bladewind clan of orcs formed raiding parties and began attacking draenei caravans. They killed dozens of draenei and captured even more. Among the prisoners was Leran. Draenei scouts reported the Bladewind sacrificing their prisoners in gruesome rituals to appease the elements and Maraad urged the draenei to save the prisoners, his sister included. He led the assault on the Bladewind, but by the time they arrived, Leran and the others were dead. The sight of his sister's body sent Maraad into a rage and he rampaged through the village.[1]
Maraad would later learn that a Bladewind soldier raped Leran who gave birth to a half-breed known as Garona Halforcen. He set out on a journey to find his niece.[2][3]
Notes
- In the comic series, Garona was said to be a result of one of Gul'dan's experiments and the Bladewind clan had non-hostile relations with the draenei.[2][4]
- World of Warcraft: Chronicle Volume 2 notes that Garona is a member of the Shadow Council and assassinated Zagrel in Year -8, merely two years after Leran's abduction in Year -6. Gul'dan "aged her."[5]
