Gryphon mounts

Gryphon mounts are the flying mounts for Alliance players. They come in a variety of colors and can also be used for land travel. Until Wrath of the Lich King, these mounts were Alliance only.

Expert mounts

 [Ebon Gryphon],  [Snowy Gryphon], and  [Golden Gryphon] requires expert flying (costs 250 to train) and cost 50 each. Faction reputation discounts apply to reduce the price. A player may purchase these mounts from:

•  Brunn Flamebeard at Wildhammer Stronghold in Shadowmoon Valley
•  Durgan Thunderbeak at Valiance Keep in Borean Tundra
•  Grunda Bronzewing at Honor Hold in Hellfire Peninsula
•  Mei Francis in Dalaran
•  Tannec Stonebeak in Stormwind City

Artisan mounts

 [Swift Blue Gryphon],  [Swift Green Gryphon],  [Swift Red Gryphon], and  [Swift Purple Gryphon] cost 100 each, and are available from the same vendors as the Expert mounts above. Again, faction reputation discounts apply.

Other

•  [Armored Snowy Gryphon] is only available from Mei Francis in Dalaran, and only purchasable by the Alliance. She charges 2000 for it, but faction discount does apply from the Kirin Tor. The Horde equivalent is the  [Armored Blue Wind Rider].
•  [Winged Steed of the Ebon Blade] is purchased for 1,000 from Dread Commander Thalanor at Acherus: The Ebon Hold in the Eastern Plaguelands. It is the only gryphon mount available to Horde players.
•  [Grand Armored Gryphon] is purchased for 2,000 from Agent Malley in Krasarang Wilds. You must be exalted with Operation: Shieldwall to buy it.
•  [Dusky Waycrest Gryphon] is purchased from Quartermaster Alcorn in Arom's Stand, Drustvar. Requires Exalted with Order of Embers.
•  [Proudmoore Sea Scout] is purchased from Provisioner Fray in Boralus Harbor, Tiragarde Sound. Requires Exalted with Proudmoore Admiralty.
•  [Stormsong Coastwatcher] is purchased from Sister Lilyana in Brennadam, Stormsong Valley. Requires Exalted with Storm's Wake.

•  [Grand Gryphon] is a reward from completing  [15-35] The Silence, the final part in the Operation: Shieldwall questline.

The [Alabaster Stormtalon] is the Alliance mount from the Collector's Edition of Warcraft's 15th Anniversary or from the Battle.net Shop, along with the [Alabaster Thunderwing].

Unobtainable

The  [Spectral Gryphon] mount is the Alliance-side reward for when an inactive player accepted your Scroll of Resurrection and subscribed to World of Warcraft for at least 30 days. This reward became first available on March 6, 2012.

Loaned Gryphon

The  [Loaned Gryphon Reins] is a special flying mount purchased for free from "Honest" Max outside of K3 in Storm Peaks. It is available to players who are level 77 or higher and have not purchased [Cold Weather Flying], and it can only be used in Sholazar Basin, Storm Peaks, and Icecrown.
