Sylphs are a sentient race on the Continent, likely related to nymphs.[1]
History
First living on the Continent around the time of the arrival of elves,[2] they are considered savages by the dwarves.[1]
Trivia
- Sylphs or sylphids are spirits, or nymphs, of air from the Renaissance European mythology. It's worth to note that the first term refers to male spirits, while the second to their female counterparts.
Notes
- In the original Polish novel, only the feminine version of the word is used.
- According to The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt in-game book Of Fire and Stone, sylphs belong to the elementa class of creatures. However, it says the same thing about gnomes, which is inconsistent with canon established by the novels.
