Owl Hills is one of the regions disputed between Brugge and Brokilon. It is situated east of the Wagtail, and southwest of Ceann Treise and Seventh Mile.[1]
History
Originally a part of Brokilon, Owl Hills were taken by Bruggian forces in the 12th century and the local primeval forests were cut down. Dryads did not recognise the annexation and continued to attack the human colonisers; these attacks still remembered by the 1250s.[2]
1260s
By the 1260s, forests grew here again, and while the Bruggians remained the de jure rulers of the Hills, Brokilonians such as Milva knew most of the hidden paths and were able to sneak through the region without great effort. In 1263, during the First Northern War, several local villages were burned to the ground by the invading Nilfgaardian Army.[1]
On the 7th of August 1267, the Imperial Army once-more stormed the region, burning villages and forests. Geralt, Dandelion and Milva, who intended to travel south towards the Yaruga, were forced to change direction east after witnessing a fierce battle in the local village between Bruggian infantry defenders and Verdenian cavalry/Scoia'tael aggressors. After the Bruggians were pushed back for a final time, the Scoia'tael swept through the village, killing its residents and burning it to the ground.[1]
On the 2nd of April 1268, the Peace of Cintra was signed, officially ending the Second Northern War. One stipulation was Brugge, including Owl Hills, was to be returned to Venzlav and its Nilfgaardian settlers repatriated.[3]
