Barsa is a land lying to the south of Nilfgaardian Empire. For people from Northern Realms Barsa is half-mythical, known only from the tales of travelers and sailors.
History
People from Barsa, known as Barsamen, established small states referred to as taifas.[1] As Nilfgaard expanded, it reportedly fought wars with whom Nordlings described as "rulers of unknown kingdoms at the other end of the world",[2] eventually absorbing a number of regions the Barsamen used to call home.[1]
The "Unification of Sadat" was a Barsan movement that existed at one point of history. Its name was appropriated by a small group of Nordling mages as a code name for a secret society aiming to break off from the Supreme Council.[3]
Society and culture
According to Dandelion, a Barsan custom demand that all girls guard their virginity until they wed.[4]
Geography
Villentretenmerth notes that Barsa probably lies south of Nilfgaard, alongside other regions of Far South such as Hannu, Ofir, or Zangvebar, but remarks his ignorance and lack of solid knowledge in this matter.[5]
