Mason was an unruly and racist drunk who antagonized Ah Sahm and Young Jun until being killed by Harlan French.

Biography

Mason rides in a stagecoach with a group of strangers, most notably Ah Sahm and Young Jun, who just the existence of angers Mason, as he sees them as less than human, closer to worms, in fact. The ride comes to a stop and they are forced to take refuge in a nearby saloon for the night, where Mason has sex with one of the working girls, the one that's not a "redskin," before instigating a fight with Ah Sahm and Young Jun, referring to them as yellow and questioning the manner in which they eat. Ah Sahm stands to his feet as if to fight, but Father Flynn intervenes and offers to buy Mason a drink. Mason then picks a fight with Young Jun, during which he pulls out his gun, but before he can pull the trigger, he gets his head blown off by Harlan French.^[1]
