Wario Land 4 is the fourth game of the Wario Land series released for the Game Boy Advance. It was released in 2001. It was the last Wario Land game until Wario Land: Shake It! was released seven years later. It is also the final Wario Land game to be released on the GBA. The game features 2D graphics with linear transformations (similar to Super Mario World and Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island).
Plot
Everything starts when Wario sees an article in the newspaper about a treasure that has been uncovered in a golden temple in the jungle. As ambitious and greedy as he is, he gets on his car to get there and claim all the treasure for himself.
Gameplay
The main goal of each level is to collect a key (known as a "Keyzer") as well as four pieces of a diamond that will unlock the door to the level's boss. All of the levels are cut into two halves, one where you traverse normally until you reach a Frog Statue. Once you step on the statue, you're told to HURRY UP as a timer presents itself, and now it's a mad dash to the entrance of the level, and paired with the insane psychedelic music, it's quite an exhilarating experience! In the levels, the player will collect money which they can spend on minigames to earn medals. These medals can be used to buy power-ups that damage bosses without having to fight them, a desirable feature when facing the Golden Diva, and a necessary feature when facing bosses in super hard mode (especially Spoiled Rotten).
Entry Passage
The first passage Wario enters in Wario Land 4. Has one level.
Hall of Hieroglyphs
Tutorial-like level for Wario Land 4.
Spoiled Rotten
Spoiled Rotten is the boss of Entry Passage. Appears to be a giant eggplant carrying a baby doll. This boss does not cause damage until nearly dead, at which point it throws a tantrum and exposes his sharp teeth to attack Wario. Wario must defeat this boss to open up the other four passages.
Emerald Passage
The easiest of the four passages, but it can still be of some trouble in the later levels.
Sapphire Passage
The hardest of the passages, the Sapphire passage has a horror/Arabian theme to it. The Boss of this level is Catbat, a massive creature that creates waves and floating mines.
Ruby Passage
A passage with an urban theme. A good third passage.
Topaz Passage
A passage with a toy theme. A good second passage.
