History

Hagan set up Hagan's saloon in Independence. He developed a close working relationship and friendship with Kate Carver.
Series
The Davidsons want to buy Hagan's, but Hagan refuses to sell. He is finally coerced into selling when Kate's life is threatened. Hagan doesn't reveal to Kate why he sold, and he leaves with her angry at him.[1]
Hagan later returns to visit Independence and he and Kate have a drink together at another saloon. When they learn that Lucia Reyes's family is heavily indebted to the owner, Hagan takes part in a scheme with Kate and Hoyt Rawlins to get the owner to lose his money to Lucia in a game of poker. When Lucia bets her family's ranch, Hagan points out that the ranch is worth more than all the chips on the table, so the saloon owner adds his saloon as a bet to stay in the game. The plan goes successfully, and Lucia wins ownership of the saloon and is able to pay off her family's debts with the money she wins, saving her ranch.
