Mythically, a unicorn is a horse with a single straight horn coming from its forehead. In the Vorkosigan Saga, these were creatures produced by genetic engineering.
On Earth, unicorns could be found in the Unicorn and Wild Animal Park; these appeared to be crosses between horses and deer. People from Eta Ceta of the Cetagandan Empire had small unicorns (probably independently created, and not necessarily looking like those from Earth) as children's pets.
