AKAZA (アーカーシャ) is an alternative mascot for the Japanese VOCALOID4 Unity-Chan! software that was released for "Unity with VOCALOID", which is distributed by Unity Technologies Japan and uses the VOCALOID2 engine. She was later released for the VOCALOID4 engine in January 2016, developed and distributed by the YAMAHA corporation.
She is voiced by a Japanese amateur voice actress, Kakumoto Asuka (角元明日香).
Concept
AKAZA, variant of Akasha, is from a dystopian world hundreds or thousands of years later from Unity's (Kohaku's) era. Long after the death of Otori Kohaku, the world has fallen into disarray where people are tired of creation because of countless negative feedback against each work. AKAZA is sent by a "big guy" to calm the chaotic situation. Her catchphrase is "Don't be afraid to create a work! Don't be afraid to evaluate!"
For the demo song, "HALFALOGUE", AKAZA was used to act as a representative for the VOCALOID vocal of Asuka Kakumoto and acted as a second vocalist alongside Otori Kohaku, who was voiced by Kakumoto herself.
The presence and creation of AKAZA was meant to represent the overlap between Asuka Kakamoto and the Unity-chan! vocal. This is because although they share the same vocal source, they are treated as if they are two different vocalists.[1]
