The Old One Cult is a secret society of fanatics dedicated to the worship of the Old Ones and the main antagonistic faction of the episode "Russian About" of The Real Ghostbusters cartoon series.
History
This strange "religion" existed for an untold number of years since they first revered the Old Ones as divine and waited for the day of their return to the earth.
When the Ghostbusters were set to arrive in the city of Dnepropetrovsk located southeast of Kiev within Ukraine for a paranormal conference, the cult plotted to gain possession of the "Nameless Book" for their dark mission. Two members of the cult, Vladimir Pavel Maximov and Dmitri Smerdyakov, stole the book and framed the Ghostbusters.
Vladimir and Dmitri fled the Soviet institute to elude the authority figures and they have regrouped with the rest of the cult on a mountain. They chanted verse from the Nameless Book at an underground temple.
Once the Nameless Book flew down to awaken one of the unnamed Old Ones upon speaking out the incantations, the cult themselves was exposed. When presented with this dilemma by the Ghostbusters, the cult ran away. However, they were immediately arrested by Police Inspector Faden.
Trivia
- The cult's chant is an in-joke, as it is taken from an old Bugs Bunny cartoon skit "The Super Rabbit".
