Kouya is a minor antagonist in the anime/manga series Kekkaishi. He is a Honshū Wolf Ayakashi and Madarao's childhood friend.
He was voiced by Masashi Ebara in the Japanese version of the anime and Paul St. Peter in the English version.
Appearance
He is black with a white chest, and ruthlessly strong.
Personality
Biography
Background
He was wild wolf who was a friend of Madarao (then known as "Ginro") back when they lived on their mountain together. The mountain was taken over by humans during the Sengoku period and the two wolves were driven out, after which they perished. He was killed by samurai and became a demon wolf along with Madarao, but became twisted by his hatred of humans.
Present
Yoshimori encounters and captures three minor ayakashi, them being Honetaro, Uhosuke, and Nagao. However, their leader Kouya, who is a demon wolf, shows up in anger. It is revealed that Koya had been a former companion of Madarao, Yoshimori's demon wolf.
Kouya transforms into his true form, Madarao convinces Yoshimori to release his collared seal in order to transform into his true form as well. After Yoshimori carries the three followers out of the way, Tokine is to keep an eye on them, while Madarao and Kouya begin to battle.
Madarao is now weakened from his battle with Kouya, who seems to still gain more power even after being poisoned. Yoshimori persuades Madarao to stand up and continue fighting. As master and dog, the two work together to strike Kouya down. The dying Kouya tells Honetaro, Uhosuke, and Nagao to roam free, while Madarao, after receiving power from the school grounds, peacefully ends Kouya's life.
Yoshimori asked his brother to return Kouya's remains to the mountain he used to live on. Recently, it was revealed he was forcefully brought back to life by Masamori and serves him in exchange from Masamori promising to return the mountain he and Madarao used to live on back to him.
