The Institute of Super Science, abbreviated as ISS, is the Japanese scientific research branch of the enigmatic underworld organization known as the Syndicate and the main antagonistic faction of the 1992 V-Cinema film Shin Kamen Rider: Prologue.
History
The Syndicate backed Dr. Kagamatsuri and Giichi Onizuka research to strengthen the human body, which Kagamatsuri believed was to cure disease, when in fact the syndicate planned to use it to mass produce cyborg soldiers to sell them to the government.
After Giichi Onizuka quit the syndicate to begin opposing them, his goals having diverged from their own, ISS had him "resigned" and imprisoned by their security forces. They then forced Dr. Kagamatsuri to continue his research, denying his wishes to not involve his son, Shin.
Notable Members
- Iwao Himuro - Head of ISS
- Goushima - Cyborg Soldier Level 2
- Giichi Onizuka - Cyborg Soldier Level 3
Trivia
- As Shin Kamen Rider: Prologue is meant as a darker and modern homage to the original Kamen Rider, the Syndicate / ISS can be seen as a modern re-imagining of the original evil organization of Kamen Rider, Shocker.
