Haazen is the main antagonist of the Knights of The Old Republic comic series in Star Wars Legends.
He was a failed Padawan who was an aid to the Draay family, as well as a member of the Jedi Covenant. as well as a dark reflection of the protagonist, Zayne Carrick.
While he seemed to be simply an assistant to the Covenant's leader, Krynda Draay, he is revealed to be an extremely dangerous Dark Jedi who manipulated the Covenant from behind the scenes for decades. Through his manipulations, he is the mastermind behind the Padawan Massacre.
Biography
Like Zayne, he too was considered a failure, but where Zayne learned to deal with his resentment (and suffered partially from indifferent teachers). Haazen blamed others and gave into his spite.
After using the Sith War to murder his employer (while getting horribly injured) he manipulated the man's grieving widow into forming an organization that would supposedly help stop the rise of the sith, but which would actually help facilitate their return.
After 33 years he set his plans into motion by hijacking control of the Republic Fleet and making it bombard Coruscant, killing thousands. Zayne was able to convince Haazen's erstwhile apprentice Lucien to turn on Haazen and they were able to successfully trick him into giving Zayne an opening to remove the gauntlet used to control the fleet.
Lucien then hurled Zayne and his friend away and used the gauntlet to redirect the fleet's fire onto the estate, killing Haazen and stopping his plot.
Personality
Haazen was initially brash and reckless, while also shameful of his weak Force sensitivity and pitiful lightsaber skills. He was resentful and envious of his more successful peers, especially Barrison Draay, admitting that he wanted everything he had. He also desired Draay's lover, Krynda, another source of jealousy. He hated Barrison so much that he secretly allied with the Brotherhood of the Sith during the Great Sith War, which resulted in Barrison's death and Haazen's grievous injuries.
After his reconstruction, Haazen's demeanor changed greatly. He became calm, cool and calculating. He was extremely intelligent and manipulative, becoming the secret leader of the Jedi Covenant. Testament to his skill in manipulation, he tampered with the prophecies seen by Krynda Draay and the other Covenant members so he can use them to fit his goals. He also manipulated several Jedi Masters into killing their own Padawans. He was also extremely ruthlessness and callousness. After revealing his true nature, Haazen saw himself as both Jedi and Sith and sought to rule the Jedi Order.
Powers & Skills
Haazen was extremely weak in the Force, as well as a pitiful duelist. His raw power in the Force was described as awkward, and his lightsaber skills were so underdeveloped that even non-Force sensitives could disarm him. After his cybernetic reconstruction, where he was implanted with various Sith artifacts and talismans, his increased his power significantly, to the point he was able to contend with Lucien Draay, a Master level Jedi. One of his implants, the Yoke of Seeming, aided him in concealing his true nature, allowing him to live among the Jedi Covenant, a secret cult meant to seek and eradicate dark siders, without detection for decades. With his artifacts, he demonstrated skill in telekinesis, mind tricks and Force lightning. He was also skilled in Sith sorcery, regarded as one of the purest expressions of the dark side.
