Deus is the overarching antagonist of the 1998 video game Xenogears.
Biography
Eons ago, Deus was developed as a war machine during a civil war between alien civilizations. Its main power source is the Zohar Modifier, an object that generates an infinite amount of energy. During a test run, Deus pulled a being known as the Wave Existence from another dimension and trapped it in the Zohar. This action gave it infinite power and caused it to destroy the entire planet. The people were forced to take Deus apart and sent it on the Eldridge ship to the far reaches of the galaxy for research. However, Deus suddenly awakened and realized what was happening. This was because a lost boy found the Zohar and the Wave Existence used him to created a woman to help him set it free. Deus tried to take control of the Eldridge and have it return to the main planet. But Captain Shigeyoshi Inoue self-destructed the whole ship, everything left was sucked into the gravity of a nearby planet, the one where the game takes place. The part containing Deus, Mahanon, fell deep into the sea.
The woman the Wave Existence created turned into the first Miang Hawwa. Then, she removed Kadomony, a part of the Zohar, and used its power in order to create an entire planet so Deus would regain its strength. The first humans were Emperor Cain and the Gazel Ministry, Miang split herself in two halves in order to take care of the beings that she created on the new planet that she created before. The original forms of these beings were the monstrous Wels. When the Ministry used an artifact known as the Gaetia Key when the time was right, they would turn back into Wels and be used as the fleshy material in order to revive Deus.
