Torvi, Ubbe, Asa, and Hali sail the river with Lagertha as Lagertha has desired to retire from public life and become a farmer like she used to be. When Lagertha finds her chosen location to build her new home, Torvi and Ubbe promise to stay with her until a house is built and crops have been planted. Hali asks his grandmother if she'll be lonely, and she says she will not.
Hali and his sister Asa live with Lagertha while Torvi and Ubbe are running Kattegat while Bjorn is away. When he tries to imitate Lagertha and the other adults and older children, White Hair strikes him down with his sword as he is forced to retreat from the village. Hali's death is heartbreaking.
