aisu (あいす) is an utaite known for his smooth, boyish voice, with a slightly nasal yet pleasant lilt and distinct, rich vibrato. Though he usually sings in a mid-range register with his voice normally being described as ikemen-type, he is also capable of shifting registers to a "cuter", higher-pitched, more feminine voice - most notably audible in his cover of "Kaitou ・ Kubozono Chiyoko wa Zettai Misuranai" .

He is noted to be very good at adapting his singing style to fit the songs he covers, to the point where some fans have observed that he sounds almost entirely different when singing uptempo songs compared to when singing downtempo songs. He tends to use a powerful, fuller voice with a stronger vibrato when singing rock songs such as "Yakubyougami" , and uses a softer, more mellow boy-next-door-type voice when singing ballads or slower songs such as "orange" .

He is close friends with Mafumafu, Maruguri, and Stungun; with the four of them often advertising each other's covers and appearing in each other's mixing and encoding credits. In addition to mixing and encoding for other people, he usually mixes and encodes his own covers.

He shares a particularly close relationship with Shoose, with whom he often collaborates; the two are occasionally referred to as "twins" (双子, futago) due to their mutual chemistry and the complementary nature of their voices.[3] Their collaboration unit, Shooaisu (しゅーあいす) (both a portmanteau of their names and a pun on the Japanese term for ice cream puffs, as a homage to their shared love of sweets) have since released an album: Kuusou Capsule and Kuusou Sentimental.

Trivia

  • He is 174 cm (5'8") tall;[3] as such, he has stated that he is somewhat self-conscious of people pointing out the height difference between him and Shoose, who is 183 cm (6'1") tall.[4]
  • His blood type is A.[3]
  • He currently lives in Nagoya.[5]
  • He is capable of reading English, and has in fact read letters and notes sent to him by overseas fans. He has also clarified that he is fine with fans sending him messages in English.[4]
  • His favorite food is his namesake, ice cream ("ice" is read "aisu" phonetically in Japanese).[3] Because of this, he is often depicted with ice cream or with an ice cream motif.
  • His main hobbies are cooking and bowling,[6][3] often posting pictures of dishes he has cooked on Twitter.
  • His favorite subjects in school are art and social studies, while his least favorite subject is math.[3]
  • He claims to have a fetish for voices, and that he doesn't have a specific "type"; instead stating that he'll like whoever he falls in love with, no matter their traits.[3]
  • Notably, his friends and acquaintances overwhelmingly tend to use the "-chan" suffix when addressing him rather than the usual "-kun" or "-san", referring to him as "aisu-chan";[1] this often causes some indirect gender confusion as the "-chan" honorific is usually associated with girls.
  • He holds the dubious honor of being the most common target of Shoose's Twitter-based flirting, with the other utaite often calling him "cute"[7], claiming that aisu is "his" and expressing jealousy when other people get too close to him[8], and even stating that he is in love with him[9]. Like most of their social media interactions, however, this is mostly played for comedic value.
