Due to the country's poor economy, a young boy ends up homeless and alone. Receiving no assistance from those more fortunate, he turns to a life of thievery. - The "About" section of OFR-Ice on WEBTOON
OFR-Ice is the first WEBTOON penned by Uru-chan.
History
Uru-chan produced artwork of the characters that would star in OFR-Ice, which she uploaded on her social media accounts in early 2015. In the middle of that same year, she uploaded the story's prologue and first three chapters on WEBTOON CANVAS.
Plot/Premise
OFR-Ice takes place in an unnamed impoverished country, where the well-off prey on the less fortunate. There are a few individuals with extraordinary powers that allow them to surpass normal human limitations, and a deadly rivalry exists between them. (Sounds familiar.)
The story focuses on a young, orphaned thief and pickpocket only known by the alias "Mr. Blue." This unassuming boy possesses some unknown power that's helped him narrowly escape entire villages out to get him, but is also plagued by some paralyzing affliction. One night he bumps into a girl named Kysa, who takes interest in him. She rescues him from vengeful victims of his thefts and takes him back to her room at the inn and nurses him back to health. Kysa soon becomes frustrated both by his ingratitude and the hostile behavior of her apathetic partner Hitsu. She finds herself trying to force a comradery amongst the three, even though it means complicating some vague mission others are doing their best to thwart...
Update Frequency
After the CANVAS debut, OFR-Ice had sporadic updates as the year went by. The first hiatus was marked by a special announcement: Uru-chan would be submitting an original story to a contest that would determine WEBTOON'S next big superhero comics.
She was a big winner, and she put all her focus into developing her new story for its official debut in 2016. This meant that OFR-Ice got only three updates that year before it was put on hold for good.
Future
Uru-chan has been asked whether she intends to resume working on OFR-Ice. She's up for it, but not before the conclusion of UnOrdinary. Even in that case, she would want to rewrite the story from scratch rather than pick up where she left off, as her art and writing styles have evolved so much since then.[1]
