Totsuka became interested in acting after performing theater at college.[2]
His first known acting role is in the 2022 TV drama I Fell in Love With the Sound of Your Footsteps.[3] In April 2023, he moved to Tokyo to continue acting and successfully auditioned for Yuma Hize only two weeks later.[1]

- Although born in the United States,[1] he was raised in Takasaki, Gunma Prefecture, Japan.[2]
- This makes Totsuka the third Japanese-American actor to portray the human host/form of the main Ultra in a live-action show, after Jiro Dan in Return of Ultraman and Kane Kosugi in Ultraman: The Ultimate Hero.
- Totsuka's older sister, Saki Totsuka, is a model who was born in Texas and raised in Gunma Prefecture.[11]
- In an interview, Totsuka recalled watching Ultraman Ace episode 26 "Total Defeat! The 5 Ultra Brothers" as a child.[2]
- In another interview, Totsuka said that although he is attached to every episode of Ultraman Arc, episode 14 was one of his favorites.[12]
