Ai Asama

Ai Asama (アサマ・アイ, Asama Ai) is the main protagonist of Mega Monster Battle: Ultra Adventure NEO. He came from the world parallel to the World of Neo Frontier Space, where the installments of Ultraman Series, save for Ultraman Tiga, are nothing but work of fiction. His encounter with Kanegon led to his awakening as a Reionics and the participation to stop Alien Reiblood's plan from succeeding.

History

Mega Monster Battle: Ultra Adventure NEO

Ai Asama is the son of a Dive Hangar nurse who aspires to become an astronaut, more specifically the pilot of a spaceship. His world is where Ultraman Tiga continues to protect even after Gatanothor's defeat. One night while adjusting his television set, he witnessed Kanegon being chased by four other aliens (courtesy of Beacon). After buying an Ultra Kaiju encyclopedia, he encountered Kanegon and was roped into the conflict with the other four aliens. Just as Tiga was outnumbered, Ai's will to save the Ultra had him controlled Kanegon's Red King into defeating Alien Magma and Alien Babarue. Ai would summon Red King again to confront the rest of the aliens and at times fighting side by side or being rescued by Tiga before he and Kanegon were kidnapped off-planet by Alien Guts to their testing site planet. Through there, Ai and Kanegon's continuous fight via their Red King allowed the monster to slowly develop its skills and learned of Alien Reiblood's existence from meeting Vittorio after they adopted Agira. In the fight against Grozam, Ai achieved his awakening as a Reionics, allowing him to summon Red King without Kanegon in vicinity and gain access to the monster's Reionic Burst mode. In response to the resurrection of Gatanothor, Ai, Kanegon and Vittorio's light of hope empowered the Ultra into Glitter Tiga and helped destroy the dark god with Reionic Burst Red King. But the blue sphere from the Neo Battlenizer attacked Tiga, provoking Ai to join Vittorio into searching it through the wormhole.

In the time travel to Planet Hammer, Ai found himself in the events prior to and during the Ultra Galaxy Mega Monster Battle: Never Ending Odyssey, having to face various aliens and Reionics. When Vittorio fell under Planet Hammer's corruptive influence to the Reionics, Ai followed suit when the former tried to threaten Kanegon. Ai came close to kill Vittorio had it not for Kanegon's intervention, but the damage to Vittorio's Neo Battlenizer was done. The trio chase the blue sphere after it absorbed energies from the Reionics Battle, eventually revealing itself to be EX Zetton. Kate appeared to the three to explain that Reiblood had been using Kanegon and Ai as pawns to empower the EX Zetton through their hardened experience as Reionics, provoking the young boy to continue fighting until Vittorio brought Io Mikura and Pigmon to participate with Gomora. With Kanegon's help, the two focused their energies to the Neo Battlenizer, briefly granting Red King the Volganic Impact finishing move alongside Gomora's Ultra Oscillation Wave in against EX Zetton.

With Reiblood's apparent defeat, Ai was permitted by Kanegon to keep both Red King and the Neo Battlenizer after seeing his growth as a Reionics. Ultraseven stores Ai into his Capsule Kaiju to shield him from the effects of the black hole, where Tiga was waiting to retrieve from the other side. The story then concluded as all three heading back to their Planet Earth.

Profile

Powers and Weapons

• Battlenizer: Kanegon's Battlenizer, Ai proved to be a better controller but required the coin monster's presence to actually use the device. Once he achieved his awakening, the device evolved into Neo Battlenizer and allowed Ai to summon monsters without relying on Kanegon's presence.
  • Healing: The Battlenizer can act as a healing chamber for monsters. It healed Agira and removed the venom injected by Birdon before it could kill the capsule monster.

Monsters in possession

Initially, Kanegon's possession of monsters were shared by Ai before he gained full ownership of the Battlenizer.

• Red King: Kanegon's default monster. When he relinquished his device to Ai, Red King follows suit.
• Agira: Seven's Capsule Monster, Agira became a temporary ally and summoned monster to Kanegon and Ai at times. The monster had since returned to the Ultra.
• Kate's Zetton (Unofficially): Reiblood sets up Kanegon's Battlenizer as his contingency plan to incubate the cell of Kate's Zetton. Ai's continuous use of the device and grows in strength allows Zetton to escape and evolve into EX Zetton.

Mega Monster Battle: ULTRA MONSTERS NEO

Ai is represented in the game's story mode as the faceless protagonist that players assumed. The story altered slightly from the manga, with the player's awakening as a Reionics came from fighting against Nova and a brainwashed Kanegon. At the end of the fight with EX Zetton, the protagonist met with Reimon, who sent him, Kanegon and Vittorio home with his powers. ^{Mega Monster Battle: ULTRA MONSTERS NEO}

Trivia

• While explaining to Kanegon about the parallel world theory, Ai broke the fourth wall by hypothesizing that Ultraman Tiga may be a television show and he is a manga protagonist in another world.
• When Kanegon asked if Ai was one of the worldwide children who donated his light to Tiga during the final confrontation with Gatanothor, Ai admitted that he had no recollection of that ever happening to him.
