Ignap is a tall mage found in Buccaneer's Den in Ultima IV. The towering wizard warns the Stranger not to step into "those woods," as the dark side was there. If the Stranger entered them anyway, Ignap further warned, it would seal the hero's doom, and evil would consume the Stranger.

Trivia

• Presumably, the evil Ignap spoke of was the balron found within the local reagent shop, Magic Mentar. It is not explained why this daemonic creature was there; neither Ignap nor Shannon, the store owner (nor anyone else) speak about it.

In Ultima V: Lazarus, Ignap doesn't appear, but a book written by him does. The book, called Theories on the Structure of Magic, Or, To Step Into Those Woods Would Seal Thy Doom!, is a treatise on the types, nature, and evolution of magic. In the book Ignap mentions his encounter with the Stranger in Ultima IV, and he writes that "those woods" referred to dark magic. Enlor from Cove was looking for the book. A copy was in possession of Daem in Buccaneer's Den, and another copy could be found at Shalira's training house in Moonglow.
