The Outing! is a magazine story.
Plot
It is a warm, cloudless day on the Island of Sodor and Bertie is driving through the countryside with tall trees that give him shade. Next moment, he hears a strange noise. His driver soon finds out that he is broken down. Thomas takes all the passengers home and Bertie is repaired. Later, Sir Topham Hatt arranges a staff outing picnic for the engine crews and relief crews from the Mainland to drive his engines on that day. Later, Bertie brings the engine drivers with a big picnic hamper, after it was Sir Topham Hatt who arranged a bus ride for them.
