Scrap is a magazine story.
Plot
Percy is making his way down the line with some trucks when he passes Edward. Edward is traveling "light engine" which Percy finds unusal and he asks Edward where he is going. Edward explains he is off to the scrapyard. Percy is horrified, thinking Edward himself is the object being scrapped and hurries off to tell the others.
Henry is in the yard when Percy arrives. Percy explains what Edward told him and this leaves Henry shocked. Other engines show up one by one and learn the news and soon the yard is full of upset engines. They all agree that Edward is still a reliable engine and that they must inform The Fat Controller but are very nervous about doing so.
The engines wait outside their sheds when suddenly, Edward comes puffing by. He has a long train of trucks filled with scrap metal. The relieved engines glare at Percy, who later clarifies the situation to Edward when they next meet.

- In the third illustration, part of Edward's wheel arch is red and his running board is blue.
