Railway Inspectors is a magazine story.
Plot
There's great excitement on Sodor as some railway inspectors are visiting. The Fat Controller wants everything looking nice for the event. Gordon boasts about how splendid he will look but Henry scoffs at him. The Fat Controller stops their arguing and sends them off to be cleaned.
Soon, Thomas takes his place at the station behind Gordon and The Fat Controller praises him but Gordon still feels the inspectors will pay the most attention to him. A big black car soon pulls up to the station and four important looking people get out. Thomas is so excited he lets out a big puff of steam. However, his driver had forgotten to clear his funnel out and soon the station, as well as Gordon, ends up covered in soot!
Gordon is furious but Thomas' driver rushes to the water tower with a hose and shoots a jet of water across the station. The soot is cleared and the inspectors compliment how clean the station is. The Fat Controller thanks them and Thomas is pleased things worked out in the end.
