Promises is a magazine story.
Plot
Sometimes, Daisy can be quite reluctant to do certain jobs. She has once again been tasked to pull a milk tanker, but Daisy insists that diesel railcars are too grand for a job like that. The stationmaster finds it pointless to argue with her and says the milk must be in the main yard by lunchtime.
Daisy comes across Percy and the two engines strike a deal. If Percy takes the milk, Daisy will pull the post train. Percy does his end of the deal but when night falls, Daisy is nowhere to be found. Percy ends up finding Daisy in her shed and she explains that her driver had to go home, meaning she cannot pull the post train that night. Percy is very annoyed that Daisy broke her promise and complains in the sheds that night. Thomas and James agree that Daisy never keeps a promise and must be taught a lesson.
The next morning, the engines have a talk with the stationmaster and he later tasks Daisy to take animal feed to the hill farms. Daisy tries to claim her fitter told her to never cross over farm crossings, but the stationmaster will not have any of it. Daisy then tries to pawn her job off on the other engines, but they all say no. Daisy complains that she thought they were her friends, but Percy reminds her that friends keep their promises.
