Ashima is a colourful tank engine from the Nilgiri Mountain Railway in India.

Personality

Ashima is a friendly and cheerful engine, and always enjoys seeing her friends, particularly the Sodor engines. She is also fond of dancing, gladly taking the offer when asked. Ashima doesn't mind getting her beautiful paintwork dirty, as long as it means being a really useful engine.

Technical Details

Basis

Ashima is loosely based on a Nilgiri Mountain Railway (NMR) X class, particularly the oil-burning version of the engine.

Livery

Ashima is painted hot pink with white and dark blue lining. Her front buffer beam is also painted reflex blue. She bears several bright green, white and orange patterns, inspired by Indian textiles and Henna Tattoos.

• Ashima's name is now pronounced correctly, stressing the first syllable of her name rather than the second.
• Unlike most of the other engines, Ashima's existence in All Engines Go was first revealed in undisclosed promotional material.
• Ashima is one of only six engines from the original series to still have cab doors, the others being Toby, Whiff, Diesel, Kenji and Duck.
• Ashima is the first tank engine in All Engines Go to be portrayed as an adult rather than a child.
