Animal Noises! is a magazine story.
Plot
Thomas is up bright and early one morning as he is to deliver supplies to the hill farms on his branch line. When he stops at a signal, Thomas can see some cows in the field. The cows moo at Thomas and Thomas whistles back at them. The next station has a sheep field and the sheep bleat at Thomas. Thomas tried to make his whistle sound like a sheep in return.
Thomas rounds a bend to his next stop when, suddenly, there are pigs on the line! Thomas calls for them to get out of the way and they run off. Thomas alerts a farmer who deduces that there is a hole in their fence. Thomas' crew goes to help round the pigs up but they are just too fast for them to catch! The farmer then grabs a sack of potatoes and empties it into the pigs' trough. The pigs recognize the sound and head back to the farm to be fed, pushing through the damaged section of fence. The farmer promises to fix it right away.
Thomas is about to continue his journey when a strange squeal can be heard in one of his trucks. Thomas' driver goes to investigate and finds a piglet trotting around the truck. The piglet is brought back to the farm and Thomas, happy to have learned a new animal noise, comments on how the piglet's squeal sounds like his brakes when he stops sharply.
