A Message for Duck is a magazine story.
Plot
It is a clear day with very little clouds on Sodor but the night before, gale force winds had swept the island. This caused the telephone lines to be blown down. Because of this, The Fat Controller cannot call the harbour to let Duck know he is needed in the main yard. James is already on his way to the harbour so The Fat Controller passes the message on to him to give to Duck.
James begins to make his way down to the harbour, chanting "A message for Duck!" all the way there. Even his trucks join in and remind him. James passes some of his friends and waving signalmen but he keeps repeating to himself so as not to forget.
Soon, James reaches the harbour and informs the stationmaster that he has a message for Duck. Unfortunately, James ends up forgetting what the message was, only that there was one. The stationmaster tells James he will call The Fat Controller to clarify. James is surprised but the stationmaster informs him that the telephone lines are now fixed.
