Monaclams(モナ貝 Monakai) are a species of bivalve mollusk beast residing in the sweet Red Bean Lake. Their shell (much like their namesake) appears to be made out of sweet wafers made from mochi (aka Japanese rice cake) and their insides appear to have the exact same consistency and attributes as red bean paste.
Trivia
- They are based on monaka, a Japanese treat made from red bean paste squished between two layers of mochi crackers.
- It's a highlight featured in more than one episode.
- In the English Dub, it is referred to as two separate creatures.
