"So you do think it was me? [I didn't mean that like it sounded. Of course I got to start with you and Siva, you're the obvious suspects.] How do you figure that? Because we hate her? Everybody hates her!" - Java to Ram ^[1]

Java is Ebony and Siva's sister.

She was originally a Loco before she fled with Siva to join the Technos, where they both become the wives of their leader Ram. As a result, Java exercises great influence within the Technos. Unlike Siva, she is loyal and protective of Ram, appreciating all he has done for her.

Java helped in the Techno invasion and was one of the main driving forces to establish their reign over the City. She developed an attraction to the Techno commander Jay, but it never developed as he fell for her sister Ebony instead. Java hated Ebony because of what she did when she and Siva were Locos, and feeling inferior to Ebony's achievements her whole life.

When Ram was defeated by the Mall Rats, Java decides to align herself with Mega to control the City. She was instrumental in creating the Zootists by manipulating Ebony and Siva to join and scare the City into obeying Mega. When her sisters realise Java's true motives, they flee to Liberty to form a resistance.

Upon realising Ram was alive, the two make up before she was killed by Ebony in a fit of rage after Java accidentally killed Siva during a duo with Ebony. Java and Siva are buried outside Liberty.

Personality

Java is seen to be complex, difficult to get along with, and very determined, but she also has a softer side when with those that she loves, such as Ram or Jay. She is similar to Ebony (despite her hatred for her) in the way that she cheats and deceives others to gain what she wants. She is seen as hard to read and easily irritable.

She's fearful of Ram, but she loves him. She also loves Jay, and her hatred for Ebony grows when Ebony begins to date him. Before Ebony and Jay got together, she flirted with Jay, telling him that she knew he was attracted to her, and she was attracted to him as well. He never seemed to go along with her words, instead seeming both confused and mildly irritated.

History

Series 4

A Techno Commander and Wive of Ram. Cunning and manipulative, she exerts considerable influence over the Technos, so it comes as no surprise to discover that she is related to Ebony.

Though she is very loyal to Ram and is presented as one of his ‘wives’, Java does take an interest in Jay, but he does not take her up on her advances. Regardless, Java’s loyalty to Ram as their leader is without question, as she appears very protective of him and ensures that everything is the way that he likes it.

She is also a well trained fighter and can often be seen by the pool sparring with other Technos. When Java finds out that Siva is seeing Lex, a virt, she is completely furious. She tries everything to split them apart, but it doesn’t work.

In the end, Java even fights Lex in Reality Space, but this still does not deter the two. Her plans continues, as she ensures that Lex finds himself surrounded by woman, like Kandy, who he can not resist. Though she breaks her sister’s heart, she also regains her companionship.

However, the two sisters continue to grow further and further apart, as Siva’s heart is firmly set on Lex. Despite the events which unfold, Java stays loyal to Ram to the very end, and she ends up being captured during the Mall Rat’s retaliation against the Technos. However, we soon begin to question Java’s so-called loyalty.

Series 5

It is quickly uncovered that Java has been working with Mega in order to manipulate Ebony, tormenting her with Reality Space and hallucinations of Zoot. The two Technos work together to take over Ebony’s mind and use her as a catalyst to cause chaos and disorder within the City, hoping to prompt people into relying on the Technos. Though Siva is in on the act, she hates what she is doing to her other sister, but she can not deny the feeling of being together again as a family.

Eventually, Ebony becomes suspicious of Java and realises what is happening. Though Java manages to extract herself out of the situation, she is eventually brought to Liberty by Ram, and it is clear that the two are in love. But Java’s vendetta against Ebony is never ending. When she discovers that the source of her hatred is within Liberty, Java tries to kill her in a duel.

Always the sister to defuse the tension between the two, Siva steps in to intervene… and ends up dying in Java’s crossfire. Shocked and infuriated, Ebony retaliates, firing back and killing the last of her sisters.

Trivia

• Java is the only one of her sisters to never join the Mall Rats.
• Before joining the Technos, Java and Siva are revealed to have been apart of the Locos but Ebony managed to turn Zoot against them. Java mentioned someone had freed them before Zoot could kill them both, the identity of this person is never revealed in the series but many fans believe it is Ebony herself. ^[2]
• Megan Alatini would wear a vest with her Techno costume to hide the fact she was pregnant during filming of Series 5. This reason was also why the character was written out as the pregnancy was due.
• Java was voted by fans as 8th Greatest Villain in a 2015 poll. ^[3]
• Java is seen as one of the characters in Paul's reality space in The Tribe: Reunion manga.
