Baby Jay (formerly Baby Bray) was the son of Bray and Amber, the nephew of Trudy and Zoot and the cousin of Brady.
He was born prematurely in a barn when the Technos invaded the city and captured his father. Amber, having been banned from the city by Ebony, took the baby to live with the Eco tribe and named him after his father.
When Mall Rat Jay was killed in a battle with the Zootists, Amber and Bray decide to rename him as Jay in his memory.
History

Series 4
Born in a cow barn on the outskirts of the city, the baby of Amber and Bray enters the world without having his father present. Captured during the Techno’s invasion, Bray is taken away from his family, leaving Amber to raise their child alone. Amber however, is far from alone, being aided in raising the baby with Trudy’s help as well as the other Mall Rats.
Named after his father, Baby Bray is initially raised within the Gaian Camp after Amber’s exile from the city, but eventually lives within the mall on Amber’s eventual return there. Though he spends time with his mother, Amber is determined to make a better world for her child, and concentrates on overthrowing the Technos.
Series 5
With events worsening in the fight against the Technos once Mega steps into power, Amber doesn’t get to spend much time with Baby Bray during this time of strife.

When the virus is about to be released into the city, Amber risks her life in order to rescue the missing Lottie from the mall, even though this meant that she herself would certainly die. Though Trudy is adamant that they should wait for her, Lex makes her see reason – they have Baby Bray, and Amber would want him to be safe. Amber resigns herself to the fact that she had Lottie have run out of time, but when Jay arrives, they make one final push for the docks – making it just in time.
The Tribe: A New World
Baby Bray has a rough time of it on board the trawler, especially with low supplies, little water, and no fresh food. Though Amber remains optimistic of their chances, she is concerned when Trudy begins to harbor the notion that Brady is better off dead than starving to death. The Mall Rats eventually make it out of this dire situation, beginning a life on the island at Camp Phoenix.
The Tribe: A New Dawn
In the aftermath of events against The Collective, and with the death of Amber’s former lover Jay, Amber and Bray make the gesture of renaming their son after him in order to honor his memory and sacrifice.

Trivia
- He is the youngest character to appear in The Tribe and is the only character who doesn't wear face-paint.
- Bray and Amber using an abandoned farm stable so Amber can give birth to Baby Bray appears to mirror the biblical story of Jospeh and Mary giving birth to Baby Jesus in a farm stable. [1]
- A rumor is that had Bray not been written out of the show after Series 3, Baby Bray's name would have been Dal, in honor of Amber's late friend who died early on in Series 3. But this rumor has never been confirmed.
- The unused Series 6 finale scripts feature Baby Bray being held by Bray and Amber like in the Abe Messiah music video, where Brady is held by Bray and Trudy. Baby Bray is even referred to as the "Abe Messiah" in this unused Series 6 ending script, but because the scripts were abandoned, it still remains unknown who or what will be the Abe Messiah.
- There has been speculation that Sky from The New Tomorrow (2005) might be a grown up Baby Bray. This is because Sky resembles Bray's loner personality and he mistakenly believed he was Zoot's descendant at one point, which is impossible as Brady is female and not male. This means he can only be Baby Bray who is male, but it still remains to be confirmed. Originally Raymond had planned that Sky was the great-great-grandfather of Bray and Zoot, but the prequel concept became a sequel instead. [2]
- He is currently the only character in the franchise to have been given a new permanent name from someone else, in this case it was Bray and Amber renaming him as Jay. Other characters took new names for themselves or their new names were only temporary.
