The Gift (2) is the thirteenth chapter of The Boxer.
Synopsis
Josh is left utterly shocked that he can't land even a single blow on Yu. Thinking on all the effort he had put in up to this point, he wonders what it was all for as he continued whiffing his punches. With the first round of sparring ending, K tells Yu the second rule of boxing: hitting. Meanwhile, Josh muses that even if Yu had immense talent, his stamina levels would be below par. With Josh having renewed vigour and a plan, the second round begins but Yu immediately knocks Josh out with a punch to the jaw...
Regaining consciousness in the corner of the ring, a dejected Josh comes to terms with his inferior ability in the face of real talent. Just then, Yu comes and asks if he was up for another round. Irritated by Yu's inquiry, Josh frustratedly tells Yu to screw off and Yu accepts the decision. Josh then asks Yu a final question: whether he knew the guy K had said was stronger than him. Yu confirms that he does and Josh finally asks whether the guy was actually stronger than him or not. Yu looks back at Josh and, picturing Injae, replies that he probably is. Josh acknowledges the response and bows his head, crushed.

- When Josh asks Yu if the guy K mentioned was stronger than him or not, he is referring to Ryu Baeksan. However, because Yu does not think Ryu is particularly strong, he imagines Injae instead when answering the question.
